چکیده
Low-crested and submerged breakwaters are frequently employed as coastal defence structures. Their efficiency is governed by wave energy dissipation, the transmission coefficient can evaluate this parameter. The current study conducts experimental investigations on both low-crested exposed to different conditions compare their performance with that of emerged breakwaters. provides a comprehensive review existing formulae highlights impact design variables. To reliability each formula, four “reference” configurations used. Having these structures at same overall volume, results also provide useful tool for engineers involved in lowering operation Nature magnitude governing parameters investigated, some points criticism outlined. comparison show few equations give reliable estimates all models tested study. Higher values root mean square error related breakwater rather than ones. obtain information about transmitted energy, spectral analysis applied well. Materials performance assessment of protective layer of rubble mound breakwaters, southern coast of Iran
This study aims to examine the performance of the rock materials in the protective layer of rubble-mound breakwaters in southern Iran, from Rostami Port in Bushehr Province to Beris Port in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. Field inspections were carried out on a great number of rubble-mound breakwaters built in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea coastal regions to study the protective layer of these...
متن کاملAn Investigation on the Stability of Rubble Mound Breakwaters with Armour Layers of Antifer Cubes
This paper presents the results of hydraulic model tests on the stability of rubble mound breakwaters with armour layers of antifer cubes. The tests were performed using irregular waves. The effect of wave parameters and the structure slope on the stability of these artificial armour units has been investigated and the stability formulae have been derived. Finally a comparison between these for...
متن کاملAdvanced Numerical Simulations on the Interaction between Waves and Rubble Mound Breakwaters
In the present article a new procedure is proposed to study the interactions between maritime breakwaters (submerged or emerged) and the waves, by integrating CAD and CFD software. The approach is meant to match closely the physical laboratory test procedure, and it is oriented at analyzing the hydrodynamic aspects of the phenomenon (overtopping, breaking, run-up, reflection, transmission) and ...
متن کاملArtificial Intelligence and Rubble-Mound Breakwater Stability
Breakwaters are coastal structures constructed to shelter a harbour basin from waves. There are two main types: rubble-mound breakwaters, consisting of various layers of stones or concrete pieces of different sizes (weights), making up a porous mound; and vertical breakwaters, impermeable and monolythic, habitually composed of concrete caissons. This article deals with rubble-mound breakwaters....

When studying the structural response of rubble mound breakwaters to wave loading, the knowledge of water surface fluctuations, pore pressure variations and related wave attenuation inside the porous structure is important since the pore pressures affect most responses, such as wave run-up, wave overtopping, reflections, transmission and the hydraulic and geotechnical stability of the breakwate...
